✦ The Return of Lilith ✦

Before there was Eve, there was Lilith.

Lilith was the first woman. She was created from the same earth as Adam, not from his rib, not beneath him, not behind him. Equal.

But that equality was never accepted. See, Adam had a fragile ego and he believed Lilith’s destiny was to be his wife. Except she had other plans…Lilith had more ambition than to be second to a male. She knew she could do better. Be better.

When Lilith refused to lie beneath Adam, to obey him without question, she was told she was too proud. Too stubborn. Too selfish.

“I will never submit to you”, she told an entitled Adam. “I will not even submit to your God”. “I am a free woman”.

So she walked away. She left the garden of Eden to follow her own truth. She didn’t care what anyone thought or said about her. She believed in her own power. Adam soon replaced her with Eve, the soft one, the one who stays. It was easier on his ego than to love a rebellious woman.

And so Lilith walked into the unknown alone. No comfort, no support, no protection. Just her fire and her refusal to submit.

They demonized her. Called her dangerous, dark, a threat. Accused her of seducing men and eating children.

But Lilith didn’t become evil. She became free. She crossed the desert alone. She cried. She raged. She cursed the skies for denying her rights. She remembered. She met the parts of herself that had been exiled: her anger, her desire, her shadow, her truth. And she made peace with them all.

This was her initiation into the dark feminine. Not darkness as in harm or hate, but the sacred power women are taught to fear: intuition, boundaries, sensuality, rage, truth, wildness and power.

The dark feminine doesn’t ask for permission. She roars, she destroys illusions, she says NO and her no becomes a spell, a prophecy on its own. She walks away, she births new realities.

Today, Lilith is rising again. Not in flesh, but in energy. In the rising feminine. In every woman who says: I will not apologize for being whole, I will not shrink to be loved, I will not betray myself to be accepted.

She returns through every woman who chooses self-respect over approval, freedom over belonging…
Every woman who holds her own power without guilt…
Every woman who is crucified for refusing to submit or to be reduced to the roles society expects her to fill (wife, mother, caretaker, mistress…)…
Every woman who has ever been punished for speaking up, shamed for her sensuality or made to feel like too much.

The church was so shaken by the memory of a woman who dared to say “no” to the masculine, so disturbed by Lilith’s refusal to submit, that it rewrote the rules of marriage itself. They institutionalized obedience, embedding in every marriage vow the expectation that a wife must obey her husband. It was never about love, it was damage control. A system designed to ensure no woman would ever reclaim her power, her voice or her sacred right to say no again.

Lilith is the woman who walked away and became a goddess.

And she’s back…

Don't be an Eve, be a Lilith 🔥
